PRESENTATION:

The Tedeschi name is one of the names rooted in the history of the Valpolicella Classica wine and the Tedeschi winery is one of the wineries that have made the wines of Verona known all over the world. 

Recently discovered documents from the Tedeschi family archives attest to the fact that the first vineyard purchases date back to around 1630.  Around two centuries later in 1824 Nicoló Tedeschi expanded the family property giving a further impetus to the wine growing activity destined to deeply affect all future descendants up until today when we can envision doing nothing else but continue the tradition. 

We have recently replanted a new vineyard on 7 hectares, situated in the towns of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella and Fumane.  We have also recently purchased an 84 hectare property in the towns of Mezzane and Tregnago.  The new vineyards on this property will go to increase our range of wines that is well-known and valued the world over and that is perfectly coherent with the choice to produce wines that are only and exclusively rooted in the Valpolicella territory.

Valpolicella wine producers (as well as Amarone and Recioto) in Valpolicella proper could only be favored because of their conviction in their value and actuality.  The autochthonous vines, such as the most well known Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, but also including the lesser known Oseleta, Dindarella, Negrara, Rossignola, Forselina, which are the basis for the wines of the territory must always be rediscovered and re-evaluated if the intention is to create a wine that has a complex and variegated expression.  There is never an easy concession to the "international style", which makes, therefore, the effort of producing a good Valpolicella even more noteworthy.   Two other valued products produced in small quantities have been added to the wine range: Grappa and Extra Virgin Olive Oil DOP Valpolicella.

In sum, over the last four centuries the Tedeschi family has served as an essential point of reference for the Valpolicella wine region.  Situated in Pedemonte, today the winery is run by Renzo Tedeschi together with his children Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo.  Together they continue the work of interpretation and exaltation of the territory begun by their ancestors, and continue to produce wines with an unmistakable personality without, however, compromising modern day exigencies.  The winery has made numerous investments recently, such as, the construction of a new fruit holding unit where the drying process is carried out and where it is now possible to control temperature and humidity, thereby, maximally ensuring the grapes' integrity during the drying phase. 

The entire vinification zone has been renovated and expanded and it is now possible to control the temperature of all vats and vinification units and in that way optimize the fermenting process.  We have also expanded the barrel storage area.  We have purchased new Slavonia oak barrels with variable capacity between 1000 and 5000 liters that will permit optimal aging of the wine for the specific vintages.  The new investments coincide with a particularly positive period for the Tedeschi family winery in terms of distinction in quality at the international and national levels.

The Tedeschi family objective has always been to produce wines with body, perfume and structure and above all harmonious and elegant wines.  The winery philosophy is based in the continued innovation that favors quality without straying from tradition.
