History, innovative ideas, and a lot of love for wine. In a land with very ancient agricultural traditions, the Azienda Agricola Flavio Cottini welcomes this legacy with enthusiasm and the challenge of creating a wine that is able to enhance the typicality and uniqueness of the local grapes and restore their hints and tastes.
OUR FAMILY HISTORY
Since the early twentieth century, the main activity of the Cottini Family was based on the sale of firewood, raised in the owned woods. It was from the 60's that Flavio’s father, Giuseppe, decided to buy the vines and thus begin to produce small quantities of wine.
So the Company Giuseppe Cottini started, where also the son Flavio began to work.
With time, thanks to the purchase of new plots and the increase of the planted area, the quantity and quality of the produced wine increased and were refined.
In 1990 Giuseppe retired and his place was covered by his son Flavio.
This created the modern farm Flavio Cottini, in which even the new generation represented by Matilde – niece of grandfather Bepi - has already begun to work with enthusiasm and passion.
LAND AND GRAPES
Starting from Fumane, a popular area of the Classic Valpolicella, the lands of Flavio Cottini farm run along the plain and the surrounding green hills to the nearby Mazzurega, for a total of 11 hectares of vines, planted with typical Veronese bower system, and 1 hectare olive grove, for the production of extra virgin olive oil.
The grapes that we grow are traditional of Valpolicella, for the production of the famous and prestigious Amarone: Rondinella, Corvina and Corvinone.
