La Giuva
A WINERY THAT COMBINES A CONTEMPORARY APPROACH WITH A RESPECT FOR TRADITION
La Giuva was founded in the hillside hamlet of Trezzolano, east of Verona, in an area that retains a strong connection to its agricultural heritage. Set amongst terraced vineyards, woods and historic hamlets, the winery was established with the aim of showcasing this still-authentic landscape.
La Giuva is part of Oniwines, a project bringing together six wineries across Italy united by a desire to express, through wine, the identity of their regions of origin. Within this shared project, the winery represents the voice of the Val Squaranto and the eastern areas of Valpolicella.
From the very beginning, the focus has been on restoring and caring for the land, through sustainable vineyard management and a minimalist approach in the winery, aimed at enhancing the quality of the grapes and their natural expression.
LA GIUVA TODAY
Today, La Giuva is a winery that combines contemporary sensibility with respect for tradition. The vineyards, situated on limestone and basalt soils and characterised by significant temperature variations, produce elegant, fresh and well-defined wines.
The production style is characterised by precision and consistency: every decision, in the vineyard and in the cellar, is geared towards preserving the grapes’ original character. The wines thus express the territory directly, with balance and identity.
THE TERRITORY: TREZZOLANO AND THE VAL SQUARANTO
Trezzolano lies within the Val Squaranto, a valley that marks the eastern boundary of Valpolicella. It is a lesser-known yet fascinating area, where nature and agriculture coexist in harmony.
The soils, of calcareous and volcanic origin, and the breezy climate with significant daily temperature variations favour slow ripening, resulting in fresh, harmonious wines with a distinct territorial character.
In this context, La Giuva contributes to the promotion of a still largely unexplored area, interpreting its characteristics with care and restraint.
