Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo

MUNICIPALITY

This ancient and pristine territory, located on the border between Valpolicella and Lessinia, is an ideal destination for history enthusiasts, geology lovers, and those who enjoy being in nature and going on long walks through the green pastures of the mountains.

As you leave Valpolicella behind and ascend towards Lessinia, you will immediately notice that the profiles of the mountains become sinuous, and the vineyards give way to lush green pastures immersed in a peaceful and silent atmosphere.

While in the past, livestock farming and agriculture were the main contributors to the area's development, today the main source of wealth lies in the magnificent Pietra della Lessinia, an invaluable heritage.

The pristine nature and the history told by the remains of ancient civilizations, combined with the breathtaking panoramas that one can only fall in love with, make this territory an unforgettable destination for everyone, young and old.

A visit to natural wonders such as the Spluga della Preta and the Ponte di Veja, formed by the phenomenon of karst, is highly significant. These sites are perfect for nature lovers, as are the trails that wind along the slopes of the surrounding mountains (one of which is Corno d'Aquilio, marking the northern border of Valpolicella).

Small hamlets near the borders, enriched with fountains and historic churches, along with cozy mountain huts where one can savor typical dishes (such as the delicious gnocchi sbatùi), are the main features of the Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo area.

Also worth seeing is the Paleontological and Prehistoric Museum, which houses unique artifacts, including a fossil of a shark believed to be the second largest in the world.

Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo is an ideal place for those who want to spend a day in the great outdoors. Families can enjoy nature in places like Bosco Allegro, a large green park with barbecue areas and a playground. Moreover, there is no shortage of fun for the little ones with Veja Adventure Park, an adventure park.

For hiking and nature enthusiasts, the not-to-be-missed itinerary starts from Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo and ascends to the summit of Corno d'Aquilo.
